Marie Lyons brings over 15 years of nonprofit leadership and consulting experience to her role as a board member at Pogo Park. A strategic thinker and community builder, Marie has a long-standing commitment to helping mission-driven organizations grow their impact by building consensus, strengthening relationships, and fostering effective communication.
Marie’s professional background includes key roles in philanthropy and education. As a Program Associate at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, she managed a national portfolio of grantee organizations, assessed impact, and contributed to strategic funding decisions in public health and healthcare delivery. She has since worked as an independent consultant, supporting nonprofits in development strategy, fundraising, and organizational planning.
Marie also served as Board Chair at Marin Academy, a nationally recognized independent high school, where she led the board through the complexities of the COVID-19 pandemic, oversaw major capital improvements, and built strong partnerships with stakeholders. She also served as President of the Kentfield Schools Foundation, leading a record-breaking fundraising effort that raised $1.4 million in support of local public schools.
Marie is passionate about mentoring future leaders and believes in the power of public speaking and storytelling to shape perspectives and inspire change. She is excited to support Pogo Park’s mission to transform public spaces and strengthen communities from the inside out. Marie holds a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University and a Master’s in Health Science from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She lives in Marin County with her family.
